By now you will have seen or heard of the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal over the weekend. With 21 mission workers currently serving in Nepal (all of whom are safe and well), BMS will naturally be responding. We know that you are praying.
The scale of the disaster is huge, and its effects are, as ever in such situations, far worse for the poor among whom our workers and partners serve. That is why we are asking churches to pray and to give to support our work on the ground in Nepal.
Your giving ‒ above and beyond the normal planned giving to BMS ‒ can make all the difference at this critical time.
All donations will be used wisely as part of a co-ordinated response of international Christian organisations and our long-term partners in Nepal.
Individuals can donate online by visiting our Nepal earthquake appeal page (please share widely through social media), and we are asking churches that are taking up a special offering to please order our disaster recovery envelopes, download and print Gift Aid forms or contact Pam Fitzgerald on 01235 517617 to order your envelopes. By doing so, you can make your gifts go even further by giving under Gift Aid.
The people of Nepal desperately need your help. Please join with us in immediate relief efforts and long-term disaster recovery by supporting this appeal.
Thank you.

BMS World Mission
Our identity as disciples of Jesus is something that should impact every aspect of our being - including the way we vote. Christians have a shared faith but not a shared vision of how politics works for the common good. We're studying a resource pack (Think, Pray, Vote) which doesn't put forward any particular view, but offers four 'lenses' which we can use to view and interpret the messages and promises we receive from candidates and canvassers.
These are: Truth, Justice, Peace and Wellbeing.
While not exclusively Christian terms, we believe these get to the heart of God's purpose for human society. They can help Christians, in our capacity as voters, to take a distinctive view of politics based on our commitment to Christ.
By suggesting 'Love your neighbour: think, pray, vote' we are challenging any political message that asks 'what's in it for me' by asking instead 'what is in the interests of the common good?'
