Jenni Entrican became President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain in May 2015 at the Annual Assembly. She'll be speaking at our morning service on Sunday 13 March at 10.30am - do come and join us.
I am a Scot who has lived in England since 1988. Whilst loving Scotland, England has given me great opportunities! A former teacher, I was ordained in 2004 following theological study at Bristol Baptist College. Having been a minister-in-training at Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church, I was called to lead a church plant with the object of connecting with spiritual seekers who would be unlikely to engage with mainstream church. Jacob's Well is now a small group of Christians engaging with people through a community garden and community activities.
Over these past ten years my thinking and activities have been largely defined by the three intertwining strands of re-imaging mission, encouraging women in leadership, and developing one’s spiritually and discipleship. I am chair of Incarnate church planting Network, sit on the Council of Bristol Baptist College and am also the Chair of their Education Committee. I love reading, am a lapsed kayaker and an active cyclist!
To become President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, and only the fifth female to hold such an office, is an amazing challenge and opportunity for which I am hugely grateful. The theme that I feel called to bring for the year is ‘Daring Greatly: the courage to be real; the courage to step outside the box; the courage to follow Jesus’. I come to this role with real joy, excitement, and a strong sense of expectancy of seeing and experiencing our generous, life-giving God at work amongst us all.
During my Presidential year this website will be updated with my reflections, photos from my travels to meet people around our Union, and blogs from friends who will be sharing their own thoughts on the theme this year of 'Daring Greatly'. Please check back on this website during the year to explore more of my theme.
