'From Prison to Pulpit' is the book which documents the early years of Rev Vic Jackopson. Come and hear him preach at 10:15 on Sunday 25 Nov at Keyworth Baptist Church NG12 5FB

Father died when he was a year old. Mother deserted. Family broken up. Failed fostering experiment. Above average intelligence. One more chance.

Vic was used to probation officers pleading his case in court. He had learnt to take care of himself early on in the orphanage, but years of fighting, stealing and burgling had brought him to the end of the line.

"God if you are there, you've got ten days to change my life and if you haven't done it by them you've copped it."

Vic prayed. God acted. It wasn't always easy from then on, but living by the grace of God rather than by his own fists, Vic found a new inner strength and security. Instead of taking from others he now teaches and lives the new life Christ brings into the hearts of men and women.

Vic has led churches in Wandsworth, Godstone and Southampton - was the British director of Evangelism Explosion - Founder and President of Hope Now Ltd (Defending the weak and fatherless - working extensively in Ukraine) July 1985 to September 2010 - and is the International Director of Our Father's Arms - (setting up homes for individuals in crisis, including addicts, ex-prisoners and orphans).

SYNAGOGUE ATTACK

We express our deep sadness at the Synagogue killings in Manchester and extend our prayers for Jews across the country for their protection, peace and security. There is no place in our society for hatred. We are called to love God and our neighbours and to act justly.

ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY

We extend a warm welcome to Dame Sarah Mullally, the bishop of London, as the new Archbishop of Canterbury and assure her and our brothers and sisters at Keyworth parish church of our prayers for her future ministry. We will seek God's richest blessings for her and all who serve to build God's kingdom in this place and around the wider anglican communion.
